Concord-based disaster response nonprofit Gleaning For The World has already hosted one collection of disaster relief supplies and shipped those supplies to Sulphur, Oklahoma after a recent series of tornadoes barreled through the Midwest. The donated foods, hygiene products, baby items, pet supplies and more were distributed within hours upon arrival to families and individuals in the Sulphur community whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the storms. There are at least 80 deaths reported so far from the nearly 100 tornadoes that barreled through Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, as far north as Missouri, and as far south as Texas over the weekend. These storms have left communities in devastation and residents without homes. Thursday, May 2nd is the National Day of Prayer. Concord-based nonprofit, Gleaning For the World will be hosting a public National Day of Prayer ceremony, which will be held inside of their large Volunteer Center, located at 7539 Stage Road in Concord. There are seven themes, or topics, with which the National Day of Prayer calls for.
